Yvonne's work
All my life I have been fascinated by coverings and by the process of uncovering. What lies behind that person, this thing. The curiosities of a story, a word.

Like peeling the aging bark from a tree, which reveals fresh colour and strength, these uncovering reveals layer upon layers of new stories, of character.... unfinished memories of love, hope, dreams, and despair...of renewal.

I explore these fleetingly remembered images, unfolding evanescent and ethereal from the subconscious, through contemporary paintings.

The enigmatic boat, beached or moored; an hiatus in a journey. Adrift, aground, laden with hope or dreams... a journey of the soul.
The strings entwined in our minds, which tie us to family and place. Purposes, burdens, succour.
Memories of the finest gossamer... of childhood, of a love.
The gossamer of imagined realities long past
